Bernardston Select Board Approves Early Voting, Forms New Advisory Committee

BERNARDSTON — February 19, 2025 — Bernardston Select Board approves in-person early voting and opts out of mail ballots for May 5 election. The board voted unanimously Wednesday to authorize at least three days of in-person early voting at Town Hall for the annual Town Election, with exact dates to be set by the town clerk and publicized through the Greenfield Recorder and town website; traditional absentee ballots remain available on request. In a separate unanimous vote, the board accepted the Board of Registrars' recommendation to opt out of the VOTES Act early vote-by-mail program, citing per-ballot costs and added personnel hours as a financial burden on the clerk's office. The board also unanimously appointed Brian Hervie, Jane Ducher, Tammy Powell, and Richard DeGeorge to the newly created Efficiency and Regionalization Advisory Committee, which holds its first meeting February 27 in Leyden. The town additionally confirmed that Bernardston officially purchased its new fire station property at 167 Northfield Road on February 6, with a truck and gear move-in targeted for March 15.
